UPDATE ON OUR MEETING WITH LANDS AND ENVIRONMENT MINISTER, DARLENE COMPTON

Our coalition met with Lands Minister, Darlene Compton yesterday to share our many serious concerns about IRAC, not only its handling of the present investigation, but of it’s poor track record with land protection in the province. We found her to be, if not entirely receptive, not dismissive either, about our concerns. She stressed the fact that she is new in this role and is taking the matter very seriously, considering the many concerns raised by the taxpayers of PEI. It sounded like she is indeed considering the possibility of a public inquiry, but is not ready to take that step just yet.

We shared our petition complete with 920 signatures and 275 comments. She did also point out that although she is the Minister in charge of land, it is the Minister of Education, Robin Croucher who is in charge of the IRAC investigation. Let that sink in. We asked that she share the petition and our concerns with Minister Croucher. If you have similar concerns and want to let either of these Ministers, or perhaps the Premier know about them, here are their email addresses.

Minister Robin Croucher: rdcrouchermla@assembly.pe.ca
Premier Rob Lantz: rblantzminister@gov.pe.ca
