Difficult days ahead developing provincial Land Use Plan

Thanks to Ian Petrie for this piece. With the estimated completion of late 2026 for this long-awaited land use plan, it will be vitally important that Islanders are involved in the process. Minister Lantz has assured us there will be robust public consultation.

“The first time a provincial land use plan is formally mentioned was back in 1973. The Report of the Royal Commission on Land Ownership and Use was the first of several commissions and reports over the years that have come to the same conclusion: a land use plan is badly needed, and Islanders won’t like what PEI will become without it. However, the idea is more like a New Year’s resolution to go to the gym and lose some weight. We believe it now, but the quicker we can let it go, the better. “
