More limits for land ownership

In P.E.I. it would serve us much better if there was a land limit of 1,000 acres of land per individual and 3,000 acres for a corporation that has three shareholders.

Since I was a kid, government after government has let an oil company and other large entities come up with any excuse to buy land beyond what was supposed to be the legal limits. The latest excuse for circumventing the law is they claim they need 350 acres for research.

They must be really lousy farmers if they need 350 more acres just for research. Real farmers that know what they are doing are always observing, taking notes and trying new ways to create produce on their farms … we do it a lot.

P.E.I. is Canada’s food insecure island now. We have the highest food insecurity rate for children in Canada…

I have four kids that are either farming or potentially could …we need more land. I could only buy a few scraps of land. The big industry players get to circumvent the law, enabled by our incompetent governments. It does not sit well for our food security.
